Barn Red: Texture Twist



Who doesn't love a classic red barn in any season? This handsome gem "Had me at Hello" with the lush vine growing along the side. Tucked between a grove of trees and a field of harvested corn the striking bold red contrasts against the empty blue sky. 



 
Bring back a blown out or empty sky by adding depth with a classic vignette and texture.

Texture Twist: Bittersweet Autumn




As the calendar turns from November to December so does the seasons turn. Autumn is the season I hold onto to the most, being that it's my favorite. Every day is filled with bittersweet memories, pastimes, and traditions. Are you feeling the same? What's your favorite season?

In the Kitchen: Maple Apple Cider



This week I'm sharing with you a special autumn treat from our Bittersweet Walnut Grove book series. Farm to Table isn't a trend for those us who grew up on farm! This refreshing Maple Apple Cider recipe is straight from the farm, published in Fall Thyme. It's so incredibly easy to make! Just add water to 3 simple ingredients and let it simmer while it fills your home with a scent of "Home Sweet Home".

Supplies:



      Start with the Maple Apple Cider Recipe, then come follow the directions below to make adorable bottles to share or have at your next Autumn gathering! 


      DIRECTIONS:

      Fill swing top glass bottles with Maple Apple Cider. Secure swing top lids.

      Print apple jar toppers onto one sheet of white card stock.  Punch or cut jar toppers from card stock. Whole punch each jar topper and set aside.

      Using a heavy duty whole punch or a hammer and drill bit from your husband's tools punch a whole into the center of each cinnamon stick. Thread twine through cinnamon stick and jar topper. Tie onto  Maple Apple Cider bottles and serve.

      Texture Twist: November Woodlands



      Each season brings beauty to the woodlands surrounding our home. In Autumn the treetops dazzle in the sunlight with golden and crimson leaves. Each leaf falls to the woodland floor as if has a story to tell of success at last, similar to that of graduation. The Autumn sunsets are more bright and beautiful as the days inches closer to winter, encouraging thoughts of gratitude. What has caught your eye this season?

      Baked Apple Bath Salts


      Make Baked Apple Bath Salts



      What's better than satisfying a Fall craving with a big slice of homemade apple pie?... Soaking in a hot bath of Baked Apple Bath Salts without adding to our waistlines for another Fall Indulgence. This recipe is incredibly easy make and the fragrance is calorie free! P.S.       SUPPLIES:

        Make Baked Apple Bath Salts

          DIRECTIONS:


          In a glass liquid measuring cup add mineral salt, baking soda, and apple pie spice. Stir to combine. Add vitamin E oil and stir well. Apple pie spice will give the bath salts a warm cinnamon color.

          Pour into a glass container and seal lid. To use pour a few teaspoons of bath salts into running bath water to circulate and release fragrances into steam. To use as an exfoliant, simply rub into skin with a small amount water. 
          Yields:
          1/2 cup

          Fall Farmers Market: Photoshop Before and After



          Farmers markets in the Fall bewitch me! I could stare into a buckets of crisp apples or curvy squash long enough to make any farmer nervous. Piles of pumpkins and dried sunflower heads call out to me. Luckily I always bring at least two cameras along, so I can savor their enchanted. 



           
          Reduce harsh sunlight and apply a vintage photo finish with texture.

          Walnut Grove Farm



          Every Autumn Walnut Grove Farm open it's gates to hundreds of visitors. During Autumn the farm hosts a farmers market, horseback and horse drawn carriage rides, and a petting zoo.  Than barn pictured below is over 150 years old and in it you will find a cafe and a variety of artisans, craftsmen, and musicians on featured weekends.           Isn't he a beauty?! I found this Red Admiral Butterfly quite striking at a local butterfly sanctuary. He summers here in the Midwest through October, then he returns to sunny Texas. And oh my, I can tell you from my experience living in Texas winters are much easier there than the Midwest. I'll be wishing I could fly that way too when Autumn turns cold.
