Winter Traveler

Getting lost or caught up in nature might be one of the best things you can do for you soul.  When snow falls in the woodlands, creating a blank canvas; it's easy to let the mind wander. The little things like seed pods dangling from the Red Bud tree tell a story. The drops of melting snow drip from their tips from snow heavy branches. The pods themselves reminds one of traveling. Will they stay or will they travel in the wind to grow roots of a new tree, a new story? What story will you write this year?

The Journey: Generations

This vintage 8mm movie camera was recently passed down from my grandfather to me. It is from the late 1950s and was used film our farm and family. It's the 1st 8mm in my collection and I am so excited to have memory to go with it! When I think of the next generation, I think of hope and opportunity. This quote comes to mind...

"May your walls know joy, may every room hold laughter and every window open to great possibility" - Mary Anne Radmacher-Hershey

The Journey: Summer Sonnet

"Shall I compare Thee to a Summer's Day"

It has been a year just now since we welcomed our little firecracker into this world. When I think of her I think of William Shakespeare's Sonnet 18. She is more lovely than a summer's day and in her smile heaven shines brightly.

The Journey: Migratory Sunshine

As the days spread into weeks and weeks into months; the days of sunshine migrate across the calendar.
Here we are half way into the year. Reflecting on the year thus far,  I think of happy days as sunshine in our lives. Although, some days we have to make our sunshine it's still certainly been a sunny year.

The Journey: Arcangel

Nearly three weeks ago I received a letter from Spain. Upon reading the letter another dream was soon realized. It was letter of acceptance from Arcangel, an agency with an exquisite curated collection which spans the covers of many international best sellers. Whom is also a member of the Picture Archive Council of America, the British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies and The German Association of Picture Libraries. I am incredibly honored and excited for the journey that lies ahead. So, I leave you with a quote today.

Through the Lens

I love seeing the world through the lens of camera!

You just never know what you will discover if you take the time to look! The same holds true for ourselves. As the month ends take time to reflect on each gift it has given, no matter how small.

The Journey: New Space

New Place of Tranquility

Anyone who has moved across several state lines knows it takes time to find your new favorite spaces.

The local Botanical Gardens have become a new favorite space of mine.  What's better than bursting blooms, sunshine, singing birds, and a camera with a big lens?

I love the sound of dripping water and this space has it too! What's one of your favorite spaces?

The Journey: Up North

A New Home Up North

Our journey began on warm start to February. As the Texas sun rose, we said farewell to the star state we had come to love and know as home. Larger than life lakes and southern ranches played in the reflection of our mirror. We crossed the grasslands of Oklahoma as we had done many times before in our biannual road trips up north.

The grasslands gave way to the Ozark Mountains and just as the temperature began to rapidly fall.  It was like a slot machine watching the colder temperatures pop up every 30 miles or so. Further north east the mountains became hills and the hills became prairie. We followed Mark Twain's path across the dark Mississippi laden with floating islands of ice; into the state where our roots were originally planted. Like a welcome signal, snow began to fall and glide across the black top with the grace of the a swan.

It's good to be home surrounded by family, friends, and kind memories of yesteryear.

The Journey

Journey to Illinois

I'm having the most wonderful time in Illinois. We just had our Bittersweet Walnut Grove Book Launch Party in Chicago for the Winter Edition.  It was amazing to connect and inspire so many women!  Now we are into the photo shoots for the Spring Edition with the projects coming to an end. It's exciting and bittersweet all at once.  These are photos from the trip my Husband and I took to our College Town. Where has your feet or heart taken you lately?

The Journey

Happy New Years

Sharing parts of my life in The Journey. These are photos from a trip back to our College Town. There are clocks that stand at the four corners of the town square. This one happens to be extra special to us. It is the clock outside the sweet little jewelers' my Husband took to me to years ago to "look at" engagement rings. I felt like a princess! It's moments like this I strive to record. I love getting lost in good memory.  I wonder what good memories this year will bring?
