Daylight

After several weeks of bitter, cold, gray days - I'm finding bliss in the warmth of daylight!

Pixel Perfect has a new challenge called Critique This! So, I'm sharing a photo I may have brightened a little too much.  What do you think? I really wanted to bring on the daylight in this image.  Check out my processing:
  1. I brought out the golden hues with a hue/saturation adjustment
  2. I applied a curves adjustment to really brighten
  3. Last I couldn't resist add texture, so I layered the Forgotten Texture on a blending of color at 44% opacity

I think the edit is lovely...definitely says warm days! There is a little bit of loss of detail right in the middle, but I'm not sure it matters. =)

  8. I have to say, I think your original picture is just beautiful. I love how the grassy stuff looks like it's sparkling in the sun, and that doesn't really carry over to the edit. The edited one is beautiful in its own way, but seeing them side by side that's just what popped into my head. I hate to say even anything, because I'm a complete amateur!

  9. It's a really beautiful edit, but the contrast seems to blow out the detail a little bit. I really think I like the original better. It's a subtle photo, but the effect is great!

  10. I like the both...the lighter one is just a bit "dreamier". So glad you are thawing out!

  11. I think I like the original better! Some of the details got blown out on your edited one. It's a lovely shot though! Unique and pretty. :)

    Dina,
    that is funny "thawing out"!

  13. I think your edit does lose some detail with the brightness and there is almost too much of the subject to fill the frame. It has your signature on it though- the old-time feel!

the composition of the image is really nice - i think the edited version may have a tad too much green hint to it that could be modified...i tend to like overexposure in certain images and this one it feels nice that way.
