The Texture Touch: Country Doors

Country Door

I look at these barn doors and think of the farmers who built this barn with every board. The structure may seem plain and ordinary to others. All I see is beauty in the slowly aged patina of color and texture.

Texture Touch with Adobe Photoshop:
  1. Drop and pull the legacy texture #3 over your image
  2. From the layers palette select the linear burn blending mode
  3. Add the tall tale texture next and apply the overlay blending mode
  4. Reduce the opacity of this second layer of texture to 85%
  5. Last add the gardenia overlay #3 to the top

What do you see?

  1. Wow, what a transformation! I keep getting closer and closer to investing in Photoshop, even Photoshop Elements. Right now, I'm just using iPhoto and Pixlr...but this post has me very enticed!

  10. What a beautiful edit! What's funny is that the edit looks so natural. I was surprised it wasn't original. You definitely warmed up the tones.

  12. I'm a sucker for these simple details, too.. I just love the wood & the history & labor that went into them.
My husband owns a sawmill (and is a contractor & carpenter who specializes in heavy construction, pole barns, etc.) so we really appreciate not only the architecture, but the sawing & making of each board & timber.
PS: I've finally become totally addicted to playing with textures, too!
