The Texture Touch

I love finding layers and layers of natural textures to photograph.  This photograph reminds me of the "turn of the century" Victorian home I grew up in.  There was water pump just like this next to our garden.  Sometimes my siblings and I would make water balloons with the water pump.  What reminds you of your childhood home?

texture - ology:
  1. To boost the green tones in your image add the sometimes cool texture
  2. Select the overlay blending mode and lower the opacity to 70%
  3. To warm up the green tones, add the legacy #6 texture (coming soon)
  4. Blend this texture layer on darker color and reduce opacity to 45%
  5. To add a vignette apply the heirloom #4 texture
  6. Select the linear burn blending mode with an opacity of 75%

Oh my, your pictures are so lovely and inspiring. I am headed to England and Scotland this week, can't wait to capture all I see along the way. And we have several brownie cameras, so that photo you took is inspiration here. Nice to meet you through Sweet Shot Tuesday.

  8. What a wonderful pump! And like the barns that this linky celebrates they are ALSO a dying breed. I think there are far fewer working pumps these days than barns, actually.

    1. Keetha, so true. I'm happy we have a medium to preserve them in our history.

  11. This is a beautiful old barn with its freeze proof pump in the front. I like everything about it....especially the open door. It makes me wonder what is inside and the stories it has to tell of the comings and goings of years past. Your texture use was so effective. It made the image so pretty. Wonderful post. genie

Beautiful... I had a chance to use one of these pumps in the Genesee Valley in Idaho a couple weeks ago, first time... I enjoyed seeing the water pour forth...
